The Amsterdam gay club scene is vibrant and thriving, with plenty of options to choose from. Many clubs are exclusively gay, while other clubs host regular or semi-regular gay nights. Another mainstay gay club in Amsterdam, De Trut has been around since the 80s and has always been a scene favourite thanks to its non-commercial approach. All the staff are volunteers and all profits made by the club are used to promote LGBT causes. The use of phones and any kind of photography are also banned, to promote a safe place for the LGBT community to be free of prying eyes.

Despite, or because of, its many rules, De Trut remains a fun and safe Amsterdam gay club. This relatively mainstream club in the heart of the Amsterdam gay district of Reguliersdwarsstraat attracts a young crowd and is welcoming of straight visitors. The club is split over three floors, with each offering a different style of music.

There are a number of rules at the club, which basically boil down to not club photos, being pretentious or ruining anyone else's fun. Club NYX hosts a number of different club nights and is open until on the weekends and until on the first Saturday of every month. While it is not a dedicated gay bar, on the first Saturday of every second month Occii plays host to Spellbound, the city's most beloved underground gay dance party.

Techno and house are the most common music genres of the event, and visitors come from all around to dance and mingle in the unique surroundings of Occii. The venue is a former squat, legalised inand a vital part of the Amsterdam squat scene. Every staff member is a volunteer and, when not hosting Spellbound, Occii serves as a centre for a wide range of alternative culture events.
